Senior Geophysicist (Business Development)

 

Location: The Persian Gulf 

Due to expansion in activities and recent asset acquisitions, an International Energy Company is seeking to resource a Senior Geophysicist who will be assigned to the Persian Gulf. This is regarded as a key appointment within our client's organisation.

 

Summary of Role:

 

The Appointee will work within New Ventures / Business Development and provide geophysical expertise and support for all aspects of the company's exploration and development activities. Coordinates with new business development team to manage the evaluation, exploration, development and exploitation of the Company's global assets for maximizing economic production and ultimate recovery. Provide leadership to Geophysicists.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Coordinate projects for specified assets (technical, financial, etc.) in the capacity of project coordinator;

Monitor operator's technical activity, budgets, AFE's, expenditures, production forecasting and proposals; supervise annual budgeting and reserves reporting to reduce risk exposure associated with assigned projects;

Propose / follow / supervise geophysical data acquisition / processing on Company's regional assets;

Work proactively with team members to seek New Venture opportunities and provide the geophysical inputs in the review and assessment of new opportunities;

Liaise with operators and partners, where required on geophysical studies, well planning, and budgets to optimize economic aims;

Undertake 2D / 3D seismic interpretation, mapping, depth conversion and seismic attribute analysis using specialised software / workstations to identify drillable, economic prospects; oversee regular updating of geophysical maps based on new well / seismic data generated;

Undertake technical geophysical evaluation for existing and new ventures and provide recommendations to Senior Management;

Undertake prospect risking and volumetric / reserve calculation of the prospects in the concerned asset, where applicable, and present the same to the Corporate Risk Committee;

Lead geophysical studies including updating of geological and reservoir simulation models using PC-based software, and write technical reports in conjunction with team members and support staff;

Represent company at technical and operating committee meetings, workshops, farmout presentations and industry technical conferences;

Participate in corporate peer reviews to support the quality and consistency of technical work;

Prepare / review and update presentations, reports and technical materials needed for RBA (request for board approvals) whenever a case needs to be presented to Senior Management;

Work with team members proactively to seek new venture opportunities to achieve corporate aims in production and reserves base;

Assist in providing tracking and transfer of technical skills to national employees.

Required Experience / Qualifications / Attributes

 

University Degree in Geoscience Discipline;

Minimum 8 years experience as Geophysicist within a variety of operating environments, preferably with international operators;

Strong 2D / 3D interpretation / mapping and prospect generation/risking background;

Experience with International Operating Companies;

Familiar with using geological, geophysical, petrophysical and engineering data and must have experience in seismic analysis, modelling and visualization software;

Team leadership skills;

Fluent written and spoken English
