Job Description

The Canadian Forest Service, part of Natural Resources Canada, is seeking an individual for short-term casual employment in a geospatial analyst position. This individual would assist in the construction of geospatial databases of private forest land holdings in Canada. These databases would in turn be used for the application of economic analyses and the production of maps detailing private forest land ownership across Canada.

Job Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as the position would likely involve extensive liaison with provincial and other federal land and forest management agencies
  • A degree in forestry, ecology, environmental science or other related discipline
  • Good understanding of GIS, spatial analysis, and map-making principles and applications
  • Experience with the use of desktop-based GIS software products
