KTP Associate - Crop Forecast Modeller

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work on a 3 year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) collaborative development project between Cranfield University and Produce World Group Ltd (http://produceworld.co.uk/). Produce World Group Ltd is one the largest expert growers and suppliers of high quality fresh vegetables in Europe. The business is customer and category focused and it is an industry leader in sustainable and responsible agronomy, growing and lean supply chain management. You will be a University employee, but based at the Produce World Groups offices at Butterwick near Boston, Lincolnshire.

 

The aim of this project is to develop an integrated crop forecasting model for broccoli to better match product supply to customer demand, improve product uniformity, reduce wastage and improve harvesting efficiencies. You will have an undergraduate degree in Environmental / Agronomy / Horticulture / Agriculture / Plant Sciences with a Masters in Soil Science / Agronomy / Horticulture / Agriculture / Plant Sciences or related discipline. Some experience of land-based industry and crop modelling is highly desirable. Knowledge of GIS, database management, agri-informatics and use of field data capture equipment and sensor platforms is also desirable. You will be self-motivated with a creative and scientific attitude suitable for developing leading edge technology. You will have excellent communication, project management and team working skills, and the ability to work at all levels in an organisation.
