As a key member of the company's management team - and a member of the group management committee - the Subsurface Manager will be responsible for all subsurface activities across the group's exploration, appraisal and development and production opportunities. Through a multi-disciplined team of employees and consultants you will ensure that technical excellence is achieved and timetables are met. You will also lead the effort to create and develop value through the application of subsurface expertise.
This is a senior role with a broad remit and wide-reaching influence, both from a business and technical stand point. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Significant contribution to the development of strategies for:
the appraisal and subsequent development of the Company's technical reserves;
the development of exploration prospects;
the optimisation of exploration drilling programs.
Represent the Company at technical committee meetings and if required also in negotiations to influence peer group partners to adopt policies and decisions consistent with the group's objectives.
Manage the building and updating of appropriate 2D and 3D multiple scenario probabilistic geological models.
Ensure that at all times there is a both a plausible overall geological tectonic setting and detailed depositional model for the group's assets and new project recommendations.
Lead teams to undertake and complete volumetric reserves estimates both deterministic and probabilistic for prospects and/or fields.
Recommend Exploration, Appraisal, Development and Infill drilling locations.
Assist in the determination of risk factors and associated sensitivities to field development.
Develop a competent reservoir management capability (initially with consultants) that is capable of providing dynamic modeling for the Company and ensure that the appropriate subsurface support is provided.
Supervise completion of and sign off all final well reports (basic data and interpretative) for all operated wells.
Ideally, candidates will have a background in Geology coupled with a good understanding of Reservoir Engineering. This is a subsea development role requiring a minimum of 20 years upstream industry experience, at least 15 of which will have been gained within an oil and gas company, (preferably a major assurance group). Field development and uncertainty management experience are paramount. In addition, you will be familiar with workstations and have a sound working knowledge of industry packages such as Landmark/Geographix, Petrel or Kingdom. You must also have a proven track record in managing and motivating a multi-disciplinary team.
