Contract Technologist: 'Appraisal of Integrated
Land Management' (Ref: CT / LM / 0315)
The function of this position is to explore and appraise pathways towards integrated land Management and use this appraisal to guide international policy formation. The scope of this
Appraisal will include:
Approaches to maximising the offsetting potential of land in Ireland:
The role of metrics in incentivizing integrated land management
An assessment of potential accounting approaches
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Collate and analyse the most recent data and knowledge bases on emission, offsetting, carbon sinks, reservoirs and sources from land.
Liaise closely with the Teagasc Working Groups on GHs, DAFM Climate Unit and the EPA Climate Unit, and with others (e.g. DoE) if required.
Liaise with the development of FH2025 in a two-way communication to ensure consistency between Food Harvest ambition and climate mitigation ambitions.
Candidates must have an honours Level 8 degree in agricultural science, environmental science, or a related discipline that is of direct relevance to policy assessments on integrated land management, food security and climate change.
A postgraduate degree and/or professional experience in soil science or related discipline that is of direct relevance to policy assessments on integrated land management, food security and climate change, would be a distinct advantage.
